Testimonials
Humanex Academy has given Brad a positive learning experience this year. He especially likes all the teachers and has enjoyed the small classes and
private attention he receives from them. The teachers at Humanex have improved his self-esteem and confidence as well as help him to discover artistic talents that have been untapped until now. As parents, we would highly recommend Humanex Academy to any student that doesn’t fit well in the “traditional” large high school environment.
Thank you for all you have done for Brad!

I am the father of Derek, who has been at Humanex for 2 years. I can’t imagine him succeeding at any other high school. He had a terrible year in the 6th grade and has been in a private school environment since then. We were fortunate to discover Humanex the last 2 years. The teachers work patiently with Derek every day. He gets the individual attention he must have to succeed. But at the same time, he gets feedback on life skills he must have to make it in the real world. However, in the meantime, he is not allowed to fail. The counselor at Humanex is outstanding; Derek has access to him every day if needed.
I highly recommend Humanex Academy for your 6th through 12th grader, especially if your kid has problems in the public school environment or has other personal issues.

As parents of a twice exceptional adolescent, we have struggled with finding an education institution that can deal with both ADHD and giftedness. There are many schools for gifted children in Denver, Colorado. There are several schools for children who have ADHD in Denver, Colorado. There are very few good schools that can deal with both ADHD and giftedness at the same time and have an adolescent flourish in that environment. After months of searching, numerous school interviews, discussions with special education advisors, and recommendations from child psychologists we have finally found the school for our adolescent. In all of our research, Humanex was the top recommendation of the experts. Our adolescent is now in the second year at Humanex and continues to excel. Our adolescent is not only doing well academically but his maturity has significantly improved. The staff at Humanex continues to work with him to bring out the very best in our adolescent. We have found the staff at Humanex to be “in tune” with the kids, caring, nurturing, challenging, and very interested in helping each individual student in achieving success not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.
A Humanex Academy parent
My son struggled in math at his former school. Part of the problem—despite recommendations from psychologists to alter their high-pressure approach, his teachers insisted on doing it their way. And their way resulted in little learning and lots of anxiety. Humanex was such a relief. With its individualized approach to learning, my son not only is doing well in one math class, he added another … and is excelling there too. He thinks the world of the teacher, Bob, and enjoys a subject he used to detest. It’s such a pleasure for me, as a Humanex parent, to see educators who are not just dedicated but who work with each child’s strengths, weaknesses and personality.
Parent of a Humanex Academy 7th grader
This is my son’s second year at Humanex; he started in seventh grade.
At the end of his sixth grade public school year I was told that it was recommended that he attend 7th grade at a different school. His current school was not suitable to him. I was upset and frantic because the school never mentioned this until the end of the school year. I did visit with the school psychologist at a public junior high. After that visit, I searched for every school in the Denver area that might take him. I was very blunt when I called the schools and said I had a son that has Asperger’s, sensory sensitivity, and social problems, and who could and would have meltdowns. When I talked to the staff at Humanex they said that their school was created for kids like him. I did make silly comments to friends about visiting a school called Humanex, but the moment we walked into the school I knew we were at the right place. We consider ourselves lucky and blessed to have found the school. It has been a wonderful experience. He actually wants to go to school. He has conflicts but works them out at school and academically is doing well.
Something or someone can come into your life that changes all your tomorrows. Humanex is that something.

Humanex Academy faculty and staff are superb and the school’s academic philosophy and environment have allowed our daughter to thrive in every way. After our daughter attended seven local public and private schools in as many years, it was an incredible relief to find Humanex—the first school truly willing to understand our daughter’s educational, social, emotional, and medical needs.

Choosing the right school for our child Bryan may be one of the most important choices we had ever made for his future. It’s frankly surprising, how difficult the process was and that there are so few tools available to help parents make such a decision.
Mary and I believe there was a fairly simple method for determining whether Humanex Academy or any school for that matter was right for our youngest son Bryan. It’s called “The Embodiment Test.” The Embodiment Test directs that you should choose the school which best “embodies” those character traits you want your children to develop. Its efficacy rests on three foundations.
First, character is more important than knowledge in determining the ultimate success of our child. Second, character cannot be conveyed by teaching, only by modeling. And third, once character is set, it is very difficult to change.
A child with a strong character, one embracing honesty, discipline, compassion, perseverance, and self respect, will find the way to whatever knowledge he desires or needs. The reverse, unfortunately, is not necessarily true: knowledge without character is at best impotent, at worst, malevolent.
The second foundation is equally important: character cannot be conveyed by teaching (though it can be reinforced). It can only be conveyed by “modeling.” It is not what I say that speaks to the child, it is what I do. This is the same as in parenting, isn’t it?
With these foundations, we as parents applied them to evaluate Humanex Academy for our son. To this point, the process had been fairly simple, though not necessarily easy. First, we decided on what kind of character traits we want our son to develop. Then we looked to see how Humanex Academy actually “embodies” these traits—how they manifest in the actual behavior of teachers, administrators, students, and parents. We talked to other parents of children who attend Humanex Academy, and from this information we based some of our decisions, for these are the true tests of a school: does it help us deliver the kind of “whole” child we intended to raise? For, make no mistake, it really does take the child, parents and the school, to educate a child well. And it is only a “whole” child that is happy, successful, fulfilled.
Most schools have genuinely good intentions for children, and most are genuinely able to impart the basics of a good education. But all of them embody the elements of character in different measures and proportions. Humanex Academy is precisely the kind of school that we believe embodies the type of virtue, strength, and appeal we as demanding parents are seeking and for which we believe our son deserves to experience.
We know what is really important to us. We believe we found it at Humanex Academy. By all maintaining our own high standards then we know our son will do well, and we truly want to thank you and tell you how much we appreciate the opportunity you have given Bryan by attending Humanex Academy.
